Teeth Cleaning
When should pet’s get their teeth cleaned? Are there any tests they should have before this is done? Are they sedated for this process?
There are no set age guidelines on when a pet should get there teeth cleaned. The teeth and gums should be closely monitored by the owner and the pet’s veterinarian to determine when and how frequently the teeth should be cleaned.
As far as testing goes, we recommend a brief blood profile and an EKG if the pet is over 3 years old. Teeth cleaning in pets requires sedation for the teeth to be properly cleaned. Some veterinarians may use general anesthesia and you should discuss the procedure with your veterinarian to ensure your pet’s safety and comfort
